Feliciana Master Gardeners presents the St. Francisville Spring Stroll on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 9 am until 4 pm. The tour provides a wonderful opportunity to visit 7 beautiful and unique private gardens in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Master Gardeners will be on hand at all the gardens to provide information. Tickets are $15 for the day and will be available along with driving maps at the St. Francisville Town Hall, 11936 Ferdinand Street, St. Francisville on the day of the tour beginning at 8:30. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the West Feliciana AgCenter office.
From 9:30 am until noon, country gardens will be open for viewing, ranging from plantation style gardens to more contemporary settings. You might consider a lunch break at one of St. Francisville’s many restaurants and then continue on the afternoon tour from 1pm until 4. The afternoon features 2 town home gardens in the historic district in St. Francisville and 2 gardens on the edge of town.
Morning gardens include Nydrie, Locust Grove Plantation, the Bordelon and Leake gardens. The afternoon features the Leake garden again, Wyoming, the Kemp and Plauche gardens. Proceeds from the event benefit 4 H scholarships and local school gardens.
