Garden Symposium |

Celebrating the 20th year, the Southern Garden Symposium will surely be the event of 2008.
It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Southern Garden Symposium. For two decades we have brought world-renown garden experts to share their knowledge and expertise with southern garden enthusiasts in the picturesque community of St. Francisville, Louisiana.
Our 20th anniversary program promises to be one of the best ever. We are delighted to bring Mr. Fergus Garrett from The Great Dixter, home and garden of the late Christopher Lloyd located in Northiam East Sussex, England, for his first
speaking engagement in Louisiana. Mr. Garrett is just one of several outstanding speakers who will offer workshops and programs on floral design, easy-care in roses, perennials, heirloom bulbs, bamboos, and garden design. Additional information may be found on this website.
As in previous years, we will offer for sale the finest garden books and tools as well as an array of southern plants to satisfy every desire. Saturday’s silent auction will be the biggest ever. Unique plants, garden art, hand-made benches, gourmet dinners, and overnight stays at historic bed and breakfasts are among some of the potential bargains available.
Over the years, proceeds from the Southern Garden Symposium have funded numerous projects including scholarships in the School of Landscape Architecture at L.S.U., a revitalization project for historic Ferdinand Street in St. Francisville, sponsorship of the kitchen garden at Audubon State Historic Site (Oakley House), funding for plantings and benches at Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, and others. We do hope you will join us for our 20th year and help support these worthy causes.
